As of July 2012 – I had lost 40 lbs since the beginning of the year. I inadvertently took the Summer off to enjoy myself and focus on some other projects. But now I’m back…focused…determined to lose The Next 30 Lbs that will put me in the “Healthy Weight” category, per my BMI measurement.
This progress report is in regards to The Next 30 Lbs…Week 2.
Weight: -5 lbs | BMI: 28.2 (-6.6) | Waist: 37″ (-7″)
I’m a week late with this report. I want to do weekly updates, but last week just wasn’t the week to get started. Between PMS, just plain ol’ MS (no “P”), and moving to a new apartment…it was rough sticking to my plan and finding a moment to stop and give a progress report.
But here I am, 2 weeks later, with some good news to share. (Wasn’t it worth the wait? :))
Glad to report that I’m still on target to lose 30 lbs in 10 weeks. I’m 1 lb shy of the goal to lose 3 lbs a week, but I’ll take it. I’m sure I can make up for it along the way…at least, that’s what I’ll be shooting for.

***NUTRITION TIPS @ 2:00 min mark***
It’s been too long since I updated my blog. I’ve been preoccupied with travel, weddings, visitors, stay-cations, and relocation. Now that summer is over, football is BACK, and the dust is settling…it’s time to get on with these next 30 lbs. I’m back on my grind, full force with tunnel vision to get these 30 lbs GONE!
And I can’t wait. I’m so excited. In the words of Tamar Braxton… “She deserves this.” (Dear God…did I really just quote Tamar?) Well, that’s how gung-ho I am about it (and if you watch Tamar, you know she is HYPE about everything “She” related, lol).
I have Thanksgiving in the back of my mind as my target timeframe to lose the weight, which is about 10 weeks away. That means losing an average of 3 lbs a week. Aggressive, yes. Impossible? No. And I’m looking to maximize my efforts this time around. No slip-ups, no breaks, no exceptions.
My plan of attack is the same as before. Read my post here for the breakdown of how I lost 40 lbs.

Obesity is out there, waiting on me to return if I’m not mindful. Awareness has done wonders to keep me motivated to get healthy and stay healthy.

Basically…not much progress was made since my last progress report from week 16. The last 5 weeks were a wash, as I went on vacation and took plenty of liberties in that time. I reached my milestone briefly, but then bounced right up out of it not too much later.
But I’m back now…settled in, and ready to WORK! I will reach that milestone again, and I will go farther than ever.
I did, however, manage to work with my Nana to alter those slacks I had that were ginormous! Refresh your memory HERE.
And while I was on vacation, I picked up a new pair of jeans that fit without a belt or further alteration, lol. But umm, the whole shopping experience was dreadfully overwhelming. So many options available that weren’t there before…I haven’t a clue what to do! H-E-L-P!

I’ve experienced an increased sense of smell since starting this journey to healthy. I can smell food ingredients from a mile away.
The other day, a couple with 3 Papa John’s pizzas (I recognized the box) walked past me. They didn’t walk directly in front me…they were actually a little ways away, but in any case, we crossed paths.
About 50 ft later, when they were clearly out of my path, I could smell the pizzas…vividly. I could smell the fresh veggies, the tomato sauce, and the CHEEESE.
Man, I know Papa John’s so well. That was my SPOT! I was reminded of a coupon I had for a free pizza, and I was all set to cash it in and throw my eating plan out the window. But thankfully, the coupon had already expired. The Lord had saved me from myself!

And now for my 10 week progress report…
Weight: -22lbs | BMI: 31.6 (-3.4) | Waist: 41 (-3)
Needless to say, I missed my goal to repeat my previous 18 lb weight loss.
But I did lose 4 lbs over the last 5 weeks, lowered my BMI by 0.6, with no change to my waist measurement.
So, that’s the good news. And it really is good news, because I actually accomplished the above results over the last 2 weeks. The 3 weeks prior, however, are a different story.
The Dreaded Plateau
It happens to the best of us. Everything’s going great, you’re doing (just about) everything right, and suddenly…the number on the scale stops moving. Even as I jumped up and down on the dang thing…that little red line stayed put.
[I use an analog scale. Only way I roll.]
There are many things that can contribute to a plateau, and that is the most annoying part of it all. It’s rare that there is just ONE reason why your body settles at a particular weight, and it’s rare that just ONE solution will get you going again.
